Worcester – at last !

After over five weeks of waiting we have finally begun the trip back to Kinver! The Severn has been open for several days, but we have been on a pre-booked camping holiday in Devon until yesterday. So today we drove up to Parkend and started the journey back. We locked out at Gloucester at nine o’clock with two other narrowboats and a small cruiser. The current up to the parting was fairly strong, but once onto the main river the going was reasonably OK.

We shared Upper Lode lock with one of the narrowboats (the other must have been going relatively slowly as we never saw it again after we left Gloucester). Then they went up the Avon and we were on our own up to Worcester. The river was very quiet, we only saw two other boats. Diglis locks were reached at about 5:00, then we took on water by the trip boat moorings and moored up for the night by the race cource
